Five municipalities, one integrated system
The mayors of the municipalities of the Dukagjini region met with Dr. Micong Klimes, Desk Officer for Kosovo at Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and representatives of the German Embassy, GIZ and KfW in Junik to discuss progress, challenges and priorities for improving integrated waste management across the region.
Supported by German Government through #GIZKosovo, the five municipalities have developed an Intermunicipal Integrated Waste Management Plan, providing a shared framework for more efficient and sustainable waste management.
Following the meeting, a field visit to the “Agim Ramadani” neighbourhood in Junik provided an opportunity to see how these plans are being translated into concrete action at the local level.
The initiative puts the intermunicipal plan into practice, engaging more households in waste separation at source and supporting cleaner neighbourhoods and more sustainable waste management.
