For this campaign, havesting machines were engaged by the Municipality of Junik and neighboring municipalities, such as the Deçani and Gjakova, municipalities these that past years have also helped Junik Municipality in this regard.
230 acres have been planted with wheat. Output this year is higher than last year by 15%. According to the Department of Economic Development – Section of Agriculture, for the growth of these outputs have influenced the following factors:
• Preparation of adequate land for planting by farmers;
• Proper application of agro-technical measures;
• Use of certified seed for planting;
• Planting of wheat made by herbal circulation;
• Rainfalls;
• Spraying with herbicides against various weeds, and
• High temperatures during the June and early July.
Harvested wheat was collected by existing silos and mills, mainly in the municipalities of Gjakova and Rahovec.
Junik Municipality for successful implementation of the harvesting campaign, previously made all preparations. From the beginning, the Mayor has formed Municipal Headquarters, which has made the organization and monitoring of the campaign. The campaign started on July 08, 2013 and has completed in optimal time.
