Local Government has prioritized the construction of irrigation canals, and so far has made investments in this direction over € 350,000.00, thanks to the help from various donors such as: JUNIK MUNICIPALITY, MAFRD, ITALIAN KFOR, CDF, etc…
These investments have increased the irrigated surfaces and simultaneously in the increase agricultural productivity and the creation of new jobs.
Over 70% of major irrigation canals were built in the Municipality of Junik so far, but the local government will not stop the construction of irrigation canals until completion of all irrigation canals.
From all this investment, the Junik farmer has nothing to complain regarding irrigation, after in the Municipality of Junik, since the irrigation of agricultural land is done with traditional flood irrigation with no cost to irrigation, but with the establishment of intensive orchards and small fruits, is required point-point (rain drop) irrigation in the form of rain. Even during the summer season we have 3-4 irrigation of agricultural crops during this season thanks to our geographical position and the agro-climatic conditions that we have as a Municipality and that is a gift from nature.
Some views of the works that are being carried out in some irrigation canals such as Vada Xhamisë and Mulliri i Gjotës. These investments are being made by the local government. Municipality of Junik has atmospheric rainfalls in sufficient quantities and thanks to these precipitations rivers are rich in water. Geographic and agro-climatic conditions itself are favorable for the development of agriculture in the Municipality of Junik.
